Retrospective - Art of Silence Sessions, Vol. 1

20/5/2015

The first studio session for our debut album Art of Silence took place at Preisner Studio, Niepolomice on June, 2010. The studio belongs to world-class cinema composer Zbigniew Preisner and is extremely well equipped with recording gear, especially with top class microphones, enough to record the largest symphonic scores. A bunch of excellent musicians got together: Robert Kubiszyn on electric and acoustic bass, Kenny Martin on drums and Krzysztof Wermiński on Yamaha grand piano, Fender Rhodes and Hammond B3 organs. The Murphy's law was also there and we found out that a dum set rented for Kenny was not OK.  Lucky for us, Robert called his mate Sławek Berny who's living in the near, and who was so nice to lend us his drums. The good thing happened out of the problem - Slawek become our permanent band member playing later on rich percussion set which is his main instrument.
Everything was recorded with care and mastery by sound engineer Rafał Smoleń. Finally, during two and a half day session we got drums, bass, piano and keyboard tracks for First Impression, Wczesna Sjesta, Payola, Iguana Party and Way Out. The last track unexpectedly turned to almost 9 minutes jam with jungle drumming of Kenny. You can hear it on the long album version only!
(We will also remember that after bringing Kenny back to Kraków Airport a local folk hit the back of our car when we were waiting at traffic lights. Nobody get hurt and insurance paid on time:)
